Chapter Seven:Lotor and Allura: Learning Curve II
One night after supper, Lotor and Allura sat in one of the drawing rooms and relaxed and talked awhile. Allura was curious about something.
"Lotor-is your name a birthname or the warrior's name?" (She was refering to a name gained in battle)
Allura could have sworn she saw his face blush-not easy for a man with blue skin! Lotor got up and sat in the large sofa beside her.
"I don't use my war name-I've never liked it. It is K'ullyu- means "cruel one" in Drule..but Lotor is....well, if you really want to know, I have two birthnames..."
Allura looked interrested. "Isn't that unusual for a Drule?"
Lotor stretched his arms and Allura pretended not to notice that he put his arm around the back of the sofa on her side.
....Oldest trick in the galaxy, she thought wryly.
Lotor gazed at her for a moment and said, "Yes, it is. It is a Drule tradition that the father of a malechild give his birthname. My father wanted my name to be Lotor, after his father, but he was away when I was born, so my mother, being the princess of Aden, named me..." Lotor trailed off.
Now Allura really wanted to know! "Come on, Lotor, tell me please..?" giving him a winsome smile.
Lotor laughed softly and said, "All right, all right Allura...but you'll owe me a kiss. I've never told anyone outside of my family this. Promise me a kiss, and I'll tell you. Otherwise no deal."
He smirked that irritating smirk at her and she said, "Well...all right, Lotor...now tell me!"
Lotor smiled in victory and said softly, My birthname is D'aavid Lotor...D'aavid Lotor K'ullyu Lessat..."
Allura was incredulous! ...D'aavid? I would have never guessed!
Lotor looked at her sheepishly and said, "Mother named me for the legendary D'aavid of Terran who defeated a mighty giant with only a sling and his God."
Allura nodded, she had definitely heard of this David."My mother used to read his Psalms at night from her Holy Book and my father used his symbols on his crest."
Lotor smiled slightly and said, "My mother read from the book too. She prayed as well. It was - very difficult for her with my father."
I imagine it was...she thought.
Lotor continued, "When my father killed her, I stopped believing in her god...he seemed to have no mercy...not for my mother."
She was saddened to hear that from him. Allura still couldn't believe about what Lotor had told her about his mother's death. No wonder he is the way he is, she thought to herself.
Lotor suddenly got up and said, "It's getting late, Allura. I will escort you to your rooms."
Allura looped her arm in his, more trusting of him than she had been a month ago and together they went to the door of his mother's suite of rooms.
Allura was about say good night when Lotor said softly, "What about my kiss, Allura...you owe me remember? A deal is a deal..."
Oh dear....she forgot about that! Allura reached up and kissed him on the cheek.
He frowned at her. "Allura, that won't do...a real kiss on the lips...or maybe you want something else...?" he said suggestively, raising one eyebrow and smirking that irritating smirk.
Before she could stop the words from her mouth, she blurted, "Lotor, what is it with you and sex?" Allura clapped her hand over her mouth. ..Oh No! Why did I say that?! ...
He smiled broadly and said, "Well, Allura..if you really want me to show you..."
He swooped down on her, grabbed her around the waist and swung her into a dip and kissed her passionately. Allura was getting dizzy. She struggled to get up and he swung her upright, her head whirling. Allura just about fell, but he caught her.
"Are you all right?" he said, concerned, searching her eyes.
"Yes, yes, I'm all right...I'm just a little dizzy."
He swung her up in his arms despite her protest that she could walk. "Allura, I'm going to carry you-so be quiet!"
He opened the door to her rooms, carried her in and laid her gently on the bed. He sat down beside her just looking at her quietly.
Finally he said, "How do you feel, Allura? Better?"
She nodded and said, "Yes, Lotor, thank you.."
He smiled and stroked her hair with his hand.
Then he said, "You still owe me a kiss, Allura..pay up or pay the consequences..."
Allura had a feeling she knew what those consequences would be, so when he bent to kiss her, she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back. Encouraged, he bent over her more and deepened the kiss.
He broke away, whispering softly, "Do you want me to stay with you tonight, Allura?"
She knew what he meant by that and said, "..I...I don't think you should, Lotor, I don't think it would be right to..." she trailed off, not sure what else to say.
He looked disappointed. She felt a little sorry for him. At least he asked first....she thought. To cheer him up, she said..."You kiss very nicely, Lotor..."
He smiled, and then he just had to ruin the moment by saying, "That's not all I do "nicely," Allura..."
She looked at him sternly and said, "Lotor..."
He took the hint. He didn't want to push his luck! He kissed her lightly on her lips, said good night and left, closing the door behind him. Allura didn't know how hard it was for him to do that. After he left, she prepared for bed and soon she dreamed...dreamed of the Aden of 100 years ago..of Terran colonies....and marauding Drules....
Meanwhile on Doom....
Allura,my beloved....she is dreaming again...I will join her...Z'aale's eyes glowed with an evil light.
