Blind Faith:Two:

Peacetime

Six months later..

Allura was angry. EVERYONE was angry. Zarkon got off practically scot-free. He had surrendered all of his Doom forces, all his ships, all his holdings, shed a few tears for his wayward son who clung to life and he got away with the murder and enslavement of millions of people.
They had seen along with everyone else the infamous vid of Zarkon being led off his ship in manacles, tears streaking his face, muttering, "My son..my son.."

That clip had gotten so much airplay in the last six months - especially after he had given his "prison interview" with that reporter. A lot of people watched that interview. In fact, it had received the highest ratings for that week. After that, Zarkon became a sort of celebrity and then there was a movement to free him, especially after he had given the interview. He acted contrite and sorry for what he had done, but something was off and it just couldn't be pinned down by those few who protested against his being freed. Even Space Marshall Graham had been under fire for his views on Zarkon's continued imprisonment. He had wanted a war crimes tribunal set up to where they could judge Zarkon and other higher-ups from Doom, but the Alliance council voted him down. As of late, the Council had been leaning towards the rehabiliation of Alliance and Garrison prisoners if at all possible.

The long war with Zarkon had made death - even the deaths of prisoners unpalatable to the general populace. Graham was swimming for his political life or would be very soon for he was considered a man of a war. Now that the galaxy was at peace, they needed someone who would lead the Denubian Galaxy into an era of newfound peace and prosperity. There were many up and coming people within the Alliance hierarchy ready and willing to take Graham's place, but the one who seemed to garner the most support was not a human or an alien but a rather old-fashioned looking robot by the name of Amalgamus Prime.

Zarkon, once he had been released had been offered a place within a Garrison rehabilitation facility, which he took humbly and without fanfare.

Of course, for the Voltron Force and the inhabitants of the Castle of Lions, Zarkon's change of heart hit a false note even though they did try to keep an open mind about it all.

Allura was able to get down to the more mundance details of being a princess. The age at which she was to be coronated Queen was much closer than it was before, and once again, she recieved more hints that she should be choosing a husband soon. There were those on Arus who seemed to want she and Keith to marry - rather like in a fairy tale. She and Keith WERE attracted to each other but that attraction had never gone very far. Maybe it was the war or maybe it had their ages, but now they were comfortable with each other as friends. She loved them all - her saviors, her rescuers and her friends.

Although things seemed to be well, something nagged at her - no, SOMEONE nagged at her.

...Lotor..

Through her connections she was told that it had been touch and go with him, partly because of the massive burns on him. He had developed an infection and had nearly died. But he lived and within a week or so, he would be transferred to the surgical unit at the hospital to prepare him for reconstructive surgery. He had lost an arm and most of his body would need extensive work, but he would stand trial. If he confessed where he had jettisoned the lazon and Castle Doom he would quite possibly get a mitigated sentence. However this was a long way away yet.

...Lotor...

Allura was going over some paperwork. She was annoyed. Why was she thinking of him? Why did she care? Something nagged at her, something about Lotor, something about his surgery. But why? He was in the hands of the most competent doctors in the Alliance!

Perhaps that's what frightened her.

She jumped up and ran for her room. Moments later she was dressed in a non-descript flight suit and headed for Castle Control. Good. The only one who was there was the guard on duty. She knew that the guys were in a meeting with their Garrison superiors and Coran was elsewhere in the Castle. She left an electonic note for the guys and Coran stating that she went to the hospital where Lotor was at. She had been there once before when he was first brought there, so it would not be unusual. She took Blue Lion, for it would provide the most defense should she need it.

Something just told her she needed to get to where he was and fast.
