Fight or Flight
Allura helped Lotor to get to her ship, for his vision, although better, was still foggy and blurry. Just as they came within reach, there was laser fire from above. Alliance ships! They were firing upon them and Allura did not think that they would bother wanting to see her credentials. Lotor half-crouched over her, trying to shield her and Allura was trying to get them to the ship, which was so very close.
"We need to make a run for it." Allura yelled over the fire.
"No shit! We're sitting ducks here! Who is firing?" Lotor yelled.
"Alliance ships! How they found us, I don't know! We've got to - ow!"
Lotor reflexsively grabbed Allura and said, "You've been injured!"
"Never mind! Keep hold of my arm and let's go! On the count of three - one..two.." "Three!" Allura yelled and started to run with Lotor close behind.
He could hear the zing of the laser fire as it hit the rocks and the ground. One of the bolts nearly caught his face, for he could feel the heat from it as it whizzed past. The next thing he knew they were in the silence of the ship, and he felt Allura guide him quickly to a seat.
"Strap in, Lotor. We don't have time - wait..why am I running from Alliance ships? I'll just explain."
Lotor said grimly, "I don't think that's a good idea."
She ignored him and opened communications. "This is Princess Allura of Arus. Stop your fire! Arus is a member of the Alliance and I am on - "
She was cut off by a gruff voice. "Princess Allura, Commander Taal, Alliance ship Victorious. We know who you are and why you are here. You are under arrest for aiding and abeiting an escapee. Surrender yourself and the prisoner immediately."
"Wait! I wasn't helping him escape!" Allura explained. "Surely you have rules against the cruelties against Alliance prisoners? I only prevented a horrible wrong and now I am willing to cooperate in any - " She was cut off again by the gruff commander.
"That, Princess Allura, is your word against several witnesses. It will be for the High Council to decide. I am only doing my duty as an Alliance officer."
"And I was doing mine as a human being!" Allura said. "I - I will surrender but Lotor -" "Will NOT surrender." she heard him growl.
"Princess Allura, you and the prisoner will exit the ship." Taal said stiffly.
Somehow this didn't sound right to Allura. She didn't know why, but something was wrong.
"We will, but you must know that Lotor is blinded and he - "
"You will exit the ship now or you will also be guilty of resisting arrest."
"But - "
"This is bullshit.." Lotor growled and lunged forward, squinting to try to sharpen his focus upon where Allura was. Evidently he hit his mark, for Allura yelped. A moment later, laserfire erupted from the Victory and Allura's ship rocked as it was hit.
"Get us OUT of here, Allura!" Lotor yelled.
"But they - "
"They're not giving you a chance! They want us to DIE here! Haven't you realized that yet?"
Allura gasped in realization and woodenly started up the ship.
"Dammit! I'm NOT dying here! I'LL fly the damn ship!!" Lotor growled as he randomly hit the controls.
"No! I'll do it! Sit down!!" Allura hit the ignition jets and the light ship took off quickly, somehow evading the laser fire.
"You are now under violation of Alliance Penal Code 470.1. You will slow your ship NOW or you will be destroyed."
"Oh god..what have I done?" Allura despaired.
"Saved our lives if we get OUT of here.."
Lotor kept trying to speed the ship up, for Allura was still in shock that an Alliance commander would -
Suddenly Allura felt warm lips press hard down on her own, and a tongue invade her mouth. Angered, she struggled and pushed Lotor away angrily.
He moved away and said, "Good! Maybe NOW you'll wake up!"
Allura was still angry, but he had a point. She looked at her instruments. There was the Victorious, keeping pace behind them, along with several other smaller ships. It was as if they didn't want her to go too far from the planet. Her being dazed certainly didn't help them any. Her ship was lighter than the bulky Victorious, but the smaller 'Needlenose' ships could keep up in a flat run. Their only chance was to warp, since from what Hunk had told her, the Needlenoses were short range fighters and the Victorious was similar to a cargo-class ship. It would take them longer to calibrate their warp vectors and even then it wouldn't be precise as her heading. Besides this particular ship had a scrambler which would mask her warp heading. The problem was where. She hated the thought of fleeing again, but there had to be a way to prove her case and make sure Lotor was brought to justice without any cruelties inflicted upon him. Doing so would only put the Alliance and GG at the level that Zarkon had been on.
Zarkon.. she shuddered. Just the thought of what he had intended to do to her made her ill. She was sure that somehow he was involved in this, she just didn't know how he was.
She had to do it! The Victorious was powering up what had to be a laser cannon, and her shields would not hold up long under that.
"Lotor, give me a warp vector.." Allura said, trying to keep the fear from her voice.
"What?"
"A warp vector! We've got to warp, but I don't know the vectors. Keith was going to - never mind! Just give me one so we can get out of here."
Lotor thought for a moment and said, "Vector 4.500.Cieres7-Niner.."
"Got it..powering to warp..scramblers on.."
And then the ship vanished in a blaze of light.
