Blind Faith:Fourteen

Death Becomes Him

Planet Tarsus, Dr. David Hawkin's Underground Medicial Complex:

For Allura, sleep did not come easily at all. In fact she tried not sleeping. She kept herself occupied, watching David and Lotor. Zarkon unfortunately also stayed awake, oftentimes coming over to where she was and chiding her for not resting.

"My dear princess. You really should get some rest. What good will it do for the doctor or Lotor if you work yourself to exhaustion?"

He actually dared to place a massive hand to her shoulder. Allura shook it off angrily.

"Since when are you concerned about others, Zarkon? I will do as I see fit. Now leave me alone!"

His eyes surveyed her. She was afraid. For all that brave front, she still had the same fear of him. It gratified him to see it. He would rather see her fear than any approving look from those idiot Garrison generals.

"You are very distrustful of me, Princess - with good reason. I, however am a changed man. I would never harm you or two helpless men.."

Again, he touched her shoulder, making her shiver with revulsion.

"If you need any assistance, just call me. It's the least I can do.." he smiled and withdrew to the other side of the room, where he laughed silently to himself.

It was in the early hours of morning that Allura finally gave in to sleep. She was sitting at one of the tables and she simply fell asleep despite her best intentions to the contrary. She sat with her head pillowed on her arms and in one hand she clutched her weapon.

Zarkon woke up from his light sleep and got up silently. He went over to where Lotor and David were. Hm, Lotor seemed to be stable, but the good doctor didn't look so well. Perhaps he could send him on his way? He would have no need of him once Lotor was back in custody. Zarkon looked around and found the various IV patches that were stored nearby in a cabinet. Ah. This one would do. Zarkon did not know a lot about medicine, but he did know something of drugs. This particular drug was evidently left over from the war, for it was for Drules - a pain killer. It'd be effective for the body of a Drule but on a human, lethal. He smiled, went over to David and found where Allura had placed the IV patch on his arm. Zarkon carefully removed it and placed the painkilling patch in the exact same place.

Sweet dreams, doctor. Believe me, this is merciful compared to what I wanted to do. Zarkon thought as he drew away.

He went over to where Allura was sleeping and looked down at her.

Such a pretty little princess.." his eyes flickered over her face and figure. I could so easily snap that pretty neck of yours in an instant.

HIs fingers actually twitched with the notion of doing just that. He could just hear the snap of her neck as he broke it - just as he had done to others.

But, he admitted, it would be infinitely more satisfying to see her fearful eyes, her tears running down her face as he mercilessly took her. He had done so often enough in battle with women and had nearly carried it out with her the night he visited the Castle of Lions for the last time. He knew that such an act would put her in her place - shatter her, break her. Oh yes. How he would enjoy the breaking of the one who caused Doom's downfall with her resistance. The knowledge of that would infinitely add to the enjoyment of her body. He stared at her a moment and then turned away,so tempted to do just that. His 'good conduct' was definitely paining him right now. He went back to his 'bed' and lay down, his head turning with delightful fantasies on how he would break her and went back into a light sleep.

Several hours passed and Allura woke up with a start. She had fallen asleep! She looked where Zarkon was sleeping and saw that he turned over on his side asleep. She immediately went to where Lotor and David were. Lotor checked out fine, but when she checked David, his vls (vital lifesign) monitor was dead. Alarmed, she physically checked him.

He was dead!
