The Last Astrokight - Two
The two knights charged each other but just as the young knight was about to strike, Lucifer veered away to the side, causing the young knight's horse to past him instead.
"Coward!" The young knight accused, turning his horse about.
"No one, boy or man, dares to presume that, whelp!" Lotor was seething with rage. "I was toying with you, boy!! Before you die a meaningless death, where is the Princess of this godsforsaken backwater?"
"She's safe - far from you, Doom churl!" The knight spat hatefully.
If the Knight of Arus had thought to anger the Dark Prince, it was apparent that he had failed.
Lotor kept himself and his primal rage in check, concentrating on the youth's movements.
His training by the Duke of Q'uaanar served him well, teaching the Crown Prince to tame his deadly rage, focusing it, channeling it to where he could vanquish his enemies quite easily. This of course made his lord father, King Zarkon Dazerabbal quite pleased.
Of course, Lotor wasn't doing all this to please his father, but to take the throne of the Doom Empire itself.
Calmly, Lotor stared at the Arusian knight.
"Why do ye fight for a useless cause, little sparrow?"
The young knight said nothing in reply as he calmed his nervous steed.
"Tis been over ten of your planet's rotations..."Lotor's voice was soft, silky...almost - hypnotizing.
"It's over and dead, little sparrow..." Lotor continued on. "Give in to the enevitable. 'Tis not bad...think of it. Convince your fair Princess to surrender and we shall allow Arus to govern itself, free of raids, devprevation."
"Which you caused." the knight growled.
"I caused?" Lotor shrugged. "No matter. I will get to your Princess. Whether she surrenders or not, Arus is ours." Suddenly, the youth cried out in a battle yell filled with rage, spurring his horse at breakneck speed, his sword extended out from his gloved hand.
"DIE! Bastard from HELL!!" Lotor heard the knight's rage.
"Nuisance." Lotor spurred Lucifer on, and just seconds later, they collided. Lucifer knocking the young knight's horse down.
The young knight felt his mount fall, and a crack as one of the horse's legs gave out on him.
Sprawled on the ground, the knight looked at his downed horse as it whinnied in pain. Suddenly, he noticed the pain in his own leg. He must have broken it when Tallamayne went down.
Tally....I raised you from a foal... The young knight tried to get up but couldn't.
The knight suddenly looked up. There was the Prince of Hell and his demon horse casting a shadow over him.
Mother Meri, forgive me my failure to reclaim Arus...recieve me into thy embrace forever and forever and ever.
He waited for the swift strike, eyes closed.
A breeze. The trees rustled. Had it happened so swiftly?
Mother? Father?
A horse's snort. The knight opened his eyes.
There stood the Prince of Hell staring at his armor?
No, it, the helmet! It must have fallen - !
"You...." The Dark Knight's cat like eyes were wide like a child's.
Her disguise revealed, the Princess of Arus remained quiet, the shortsword that she secreted on her person, was still within reach just in case... For all knew the treatment of a woman alone with the Prince of Hell.
